As the Euro and US currencies are almost at par, it has now become much more lucrative to travel to Europe to buy a luxury bag. Below is a price comparison between purchasing a designer bag in a Euro country versus the US (New York for example). Since the cost savings are much larger people should take advantage while you still can. The savings for a Chanel Jumbo is almost 28% percent off, see comparison below.
If you are a non-European resident, you are entitled to a VAT refund. The percentage depends on the country but we have used 12% as the lowest refund, although expect to receive about 13% (more information). For the US prices we used the New York State sales tax at 8.875% as a basis for comparison.
As per August 12, 2019 the current rate is €1.00 = $1.12. This is used on all EU prices to compare to US below.
