Is Bottega Veneta the next Celine? The brand recently released a new style called the Pouch, a minimalist ruched clutch made of rich nappa leather, which reminds of a similar style from Celine. The Bottega Veneta brand is well known for its amazing leathers in its signature interacciato woven designs, so this latest piece is a clear design step closer to the days of Celine with Phoebe Philo. Note that Daniel Lee, the current Creative Director at Bottega Veneta, worked for 7 years under Celine in Ready to Wear so its not hard to see the influences. Is it a direct copy or is the Creative Director heavily influenced from his days working for Philo?
The Bottega pouch compared to the Celine Purse clutch differs slightly in the ruching and leather richness but its not like ruched clutches didn't exist in other designers repertoire. Bottega's version by Daniel Lee, resembles more of a luxurious pillow of leathers than a straight clutch.
