Louis Vuitton presented its Cruise 2022 collection at a breathtaking location. The show was set at the Axe Majeur, a monumental and exceptionally grand work of art. A 3.2km long straight path just outside the French Capital. The path begins at the village of Cergy and passes monuments to an island, with beautiful views over the city of Paris. The Axe Majeur was a fitting scene for this collection, which was all about looking straight ahead and structural features that symbolize time and pace of human life while also celebrating art and nature.
For Cruise 2022, Louis Vuitton’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquière showcased a vibrant, punchy collection that referenced fashion across time. It is functional, wearable and yet still aspirational and transportive. “A collection of proud, positive looks that advance straight ahead, serenely” Ghesquière said, in the show notes.
The bag collection is a mixture of late 90s and early-to-mid 2000s, this era was undeniably defined by women who ruled pop culture at the time. In this collection you will see 1854 Monogram on most of the runway bags, featuring soft chunky chains adorn the bags such as the Dauphine, Coussin and Petite Malle, retro silhouettes like the large hobo style bags which ruled in the early 2000s. Go crazy on psychedelic colors of Coussin bags in rich magenta and emerald green! Checkered patchwork patterns graced the runway too, in multicolor and black-gray-white combination on Dauphine, Twist and Hobo bags. It’s truly too hard to keep yours eyes off these bags!
